Error Code 0-1 and 7-1: Smart Hub Failure

This is one of the most common Samsung TV errors. It's related to Smart Hub — the platform for apps and streaming services.

How to fix it:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Go to Settings → Support → Self Diagnostics
  3. Select Reset Smart Hub
  4. Enter the PIN code (default is 0000)
  5. Wait for Smart Hub to restart

If the problem persists after the reset, try a full factory reset: Settings → General → Reset. Note that this will erase all settings and accounts.

Codes 001, 012, 102, 105, 110: Network Problems

Most Samsung Smart TV errors are related to internet connectivity. Here's a universal troubleshooting process:

Step 1: Check your router

  • Restart your router (unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in)
  • Make sure other devices connect to Wi-Fi successfully

Step 2: Check network settings on the TV

  • Settings → General → Network → Network Status — run the diagnostic
  • If Wi-Fi won't connect, try entering your password again

Step 3: Change DNS server

  • Go to Settings → General → Network → Network Status → IP Settings
  • Select DNS Settings → Enter Manually
  • Enter 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare DNS)

Step 4: Update firmware

  • Settings → Support → Software Update → Update Now
  • If there's no internet — download the firmware onto a USB drive from samsung.com

Error Code 107, 116, 301: Updates and Authorization

These errors usually mean the TV firmware is outdated or there's an authorization problem with Samsung services.

Solution:

  1. Check for updates: Settings → Support → Software Update
  2. If automatic update doesn't work, download the update from samsung.com/support onto a USB drive (FAT32 format)
  3. Insert the USB drive into the TV's USB port
  4. Go to Settings → Support → Software Update → Update Now

Samsung TV Blinking Red Light: Decoding the Signals

If the TV won't turn on but the red indicator is blinking, the number of blinks indicates the type of problem:

Swipe to see the full table

Number of BlinksPossible Cause
2 blinksPower supply issue
3 blinksInternal board failure
5-6 blinksBacklight or panel problem
Continuous blinkingOverheating or critical error

What you can try:

  • Unplug the TV from the wall outlet for 60 seconds
  • Disconnect all external devices (HDMI, USB)
  • Plug the TV directly into the wall outlet (not through a power strip or surge protector)

Important: If you see 5-6 blinks — this could be a backlight failure. Shine a flashlight on the screen: if you can see a faint image, the backlight has failed. In this case, repair is possible — the LED strips need to be replaced.

Samsung TV Turns On and Off by Itself

This problem is more common than you might think. Possible causes:

  1. Sleep timer — check: Settings → General → System Manager → Time → Sleep Timer
  2. Eco mode — disable: Settings → General → Eco Solution → Auto Power Off
  3. Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) — devices connected via HDMI can turn the TV on/off: Settings → General → External Device Manager → Anynet+
  4. Power supply issue — swollen capacitors (requires professional repair)

Samsung TV No Sound Through HDMI ARC

If you've connected a soundbar or receiver via HDMI ARC and there's no sound:

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged into the port labeled ARC (usually HDMI 3)
  2. Enable HDMI-CEC (Anynet+): Settings → General → External Device Manager
  3. Change audio output: Settings → Sound → Sound Output → select Receiver/Audio System
  4. Try a different HDMI cable (recommended: HDMI 2.1 for eARC support)

When to Call a Professional Repair Service

Some problems can't be fixed at home. Signs that your TV needs professional repair:

  • Cracked or broken screen — panel replacement needed
  • Vertical or horizontal lines that don't disappear after restart — T-Con board or panel issue
  • TV won't turn on at all (no indicator light) — power supply problem
  • 5-6 red blinks — backlight failure
  • Burning smell — immediately unplug and bring to a repair shop
  • Sound works but no picture — Main Board or backlight problem
