SATER service centre has been performing professional NAD audio equipment repair in Riga since 1993 — over 30 years of hands-on experience at the same address: Silmachu iela 6, LV-1012. Our history traces back to workshop No. 2 of the Soviet-era "Elektrons" factory, and over the decades we have built deep expertise across the full NAD range: classic C 316BEE V2 and C 328 integrated amplifiers, MDC modular architecture models C 388 and C 399, M10 V2 and M33 streaming amplifiers built on Hypex/Purifi modules, the C 568 CD player, C 598 turntable, T 778 AV receiver, and CI 940 multi-channel amplifier for custom installations. NAD is known for its innovative approach to amplification — from classic Class AB circuits in the C 300 range to flagship Class D designs on Hypex nCore and Purifi Eigentakt modules in the M33 and C 399. We repair NAD at the component level: diagnosing and restoring Class D modules, replacing oxidised speaker relay contacts, eliminating DC offset at the output, repairing BluOS modules that crash or lose network connectivity, replacing high-ESR capacitors in power supplies, restoring volume encoders, and repairing phono inputs. Before starting any work, the customer receives an honest cost estimate. If the repair is not economically viable, we say so directly and return the equipment with no obligation. All work carries a 3-month warranty. Over 186 Google reviews with a 4.3-star average confirm the quality of our service. Bring your NAD audio equipment to Silmachu iela 6.
Popular models we repair
- NAD C 316BEE V2, C 328 integrated amplifiers
- NAD C 388, C 399 amplifiers with MDC modular architecture
- NAD M10 V2, M33 streaming amplifiers
- NAD C 568 CD player

Common problems we fix
- Hypex/Purifi module failure in Class D amplifiers (M33, C 399) — no sound or distortion
- Speaker relay oxidation — intermittent output dropout
- DC offset on output — risk of speaker damage
- BluOS module crash — no network, sources not detected, or streams won't play
- Power supply capacitor ESR drift — sag on peaks, unstable operation
- Volume control encoder skipping steps or not responding to rotation
- 50 Hz hum on phono input — grounding issue or component degradation
- Thermal protection in CI series — overheating due to insufficient airflow in installation rack

NAD Hypex/Purifi Class D module diagnostics and repair
NAD was one of the pioneers in bringing Class D amplification modules to Hi-Fi audio — the M10 V2 and M33 streaming amplifiers are built on Hypex nCore modules, while the C 399 uses the newer Purifi Eigentakt modules. These modules deliver high power with minimal distortion in a compact form factor, but their repair requires specialised equipment and knowledge of switch-mode amplifier specifics. Typical Hypex/Purifi module faults include: power MOSFET failure (one channel goes silent or produces impulse clicks), driver circuit malfunction (module won't power on or enters protection), input analogue stage damage (distortion or noise), and DSP processing issues in the M33 (Dirac Live artefacts). We diagnose modules at the component level, replace failed transistors and ICs, verify feedback circuits, and test the amplifier under real load.
A separate topic is the MDC (Modular Design Construction) architecture used in the C 388 and C 399. These amplifiers accept swappable modules — BluOS for streaming, HDMI for AV applications, and a phono module. We also diagnose and repair faults in the MDC modules themselves: restoring slot contact groups, repairing module PCBs, and updating firmware. All work is performed at our service centre on Silmachu iela 6, Riga.
NAD classic amplifier restoration: capacitor recap and relay replacement
Classic NAD C series amplifiers — the C 316BEE V2, C 328, and earlier models — are deservedly valued by audiophiles for their honest, musical sound. However, with age they require servicing: electrolytic capacitors in the power supply and signal circuits dry out, lose capacitance, and develop high ESR, leading to 50 Hz hum, dynamic sag on peaks, and unstable operation. Speaker switching relays oxidise — sound drops out on one channel or crackling appears when switching. We perform a full recap — replacing all critical electrolytic capacitors with quality low-ESR equivalents and all switching relays with new units. This procedure restores the amplifier to factory specifications and extends its service life by many years.
Also worth mentioning are the NAD T 778 AV receiver and CI 940 multi-channel amplifier. The T 778 is a serious unit with Dirac Live and BluOS, and its faults mirror those of NAD streaming amplifiers: Class D modules, BluOS, HDMI boards. The CI 940 is used in custom installations and often suffers from overheating due to insufficient rack ventilation — we check the thermal profile, restore the cooling system, and replace thermal sensors if needed. All work carries a 3-month warranty.
