SATER service centre has been performing professional Cambridge Audio equipment repair in Riga since 1993 — over 30 years of hands-on experience at the same address: Silmachu iela 6, LV-1012. Our history traces back to workshop No. 2 of the Soviet-era "Elektrons" factory, and over the decades we have built deep expertise across the full Cambridge Audio range: CXA61 and CXA81 Mk II integrated amplifiers, budget AXA25 and AXA35 models, CXN100 and MXN10 network streamers, the CXC v2 CD transport, the flagship Edge A and Edge NQ, and the all-in-one Evo 75 and Evo 150 systems. Cambridge Audio is a British brand known for its use of high-end ESS Sabre DAC chips in the digital signal path, discrete Class AB output stages, and proprietary streaming platforms. We repair Cambridge Audio at the component level: diagnosing and restoring digital boards with ESS Sabre DACs, repairing streaming modules that suffer firmware crashes, replacing protection relays stuck in the open position, fixing USB input faults, adjusting Class AB output stage bias to eliminate crossover distortion, resolving transformer mechanical hum, repairing headphone outputs, and solving Bluetooth codec negotiation failures. Before starting any work, the customer receives an honest cost estimate. If the repair is not economically viable, we say so directly and return the equipment with no obligation. All work carries a 3-month warranty. Over 186 Google reviews with a 4.3-star average confirm the reliability of our service. Bring your Cambridge Audio to Silmachu iela 6 — we will sort it out.

- Amplifier protection relay stuck open — no sound after power-on
- USB input not recognised — no connection to computer or NAS
- Class AB output stage bias drift — crossover distortion at low volume
- Power transformer hum — mechanical vibration transmitted to the chassis
- Headphone output dead — open circuit or blowout in the headphone amplifier stage
- Bluetooth codec negotiation failure — connects with SBC instead of aptX

Cambridge Audio DAC and digital board repair
Cambridge Audio makes extensive use of ESS Sabre DAC chips across its product line — from the CXA81 Mk II integrated amplifier to the flagship Edge NQ and the Evo 75/150 all-in-one systems. The ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M and ES9038Q2M chips deliver outstanding conversion quality, but when they fail, all digital audio is lost across every input (coaxial, optical, USB). We diagnose the digital board, check the DAC chip, clock oscillators, digital section voltage regulators, and S/PDIF digital receivers. Where necessary, we replace the DAC chip, re-solder failed regulators, and test all digital inputs with THD and SNR measurements. This is intricate work requiring an SMD rework station and precision test instruments.
Cambridge Audio streaming modules are a separate area of our expertise. The CXN100, MXN10 and Evo 75/150 use proprietary streaming platforms supporting Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Roon Ready. Firmware freezes, Wi-Fi dropouts, inability to discover sources, or failure to play Hi-Res streams are issues we encounter regularly. We update firmware, diagnose the streaming module hardware, and replace faulty components where needed. All work is performed at our service centre on Silmachu iela 6, Riga.
Cambridge Audio amplifier: bias adjustment and output stage service
Cambridge Audio integrated amplifiers are built on a classic Class AB design with a discrete output stage — this applies to the CXA61, CXA81 Mk II, AXA25, AXA35, Edge A, and Evo 75/150. Over time or under overload, the output stage quiescent current (bias) can drift, producing crossover distortion — a characteristic "hard" edge at low listening levels. We measure the output stage quiescent current, adjust the bias to factory specification, verify thermal stability, and test the amplifier on a sine wave with THD measurement. If the drift is caused by component degradation (thermal resistors, trimmer elements), we replace them.
Speaker protection relays are another typical failure point. In Cambridge Audio amplifiers, relays oxidise over time, resulting in complete absence of sound at the output (relay won't close) or crackling and dropouts. We replace relays with higher-reliability equivalents. Also worth mentioning is the CXC v2 CD transport — a pure transport with no built-in DAC, where issues relate to the loading mechanism and laser pickup. We replace pickups, restore the transport, and calibrate the servo system. All work carries a 3-month warranty.
