Husqvarna Automower battery rebuilding

Husqvarna Automower uses proprietary, sealed 18 V lithium-ion battery packs that are not designed for user replacement. In practice this means the official route is to buy a complete new pack. At SATER service centre we take a different approach — we rebuild the existing pack from the inside.

The process starts by opening the sealed housing and testing every cell with professional equipment. We identify degraded cells and replace them with new, high-quality lithium-ion units. If the original BMS (Battery Management System) board is worn or malfunctioning, we fit a replacement. After reassembly we balance the pack and run a full load test — verifying that the battery delivers its rated capacity and communicates correctly with the mower electronics. Every rebuilt battery carries a 6-month warranty. This approach delivers near-original performance at a significantly lower cost than OEM replacement.

Husqvarna Automower batteries suffer most during the winter months when the mower sits idle. If the battery is left fully discharged in a cold garage or shed, the lithium-ion cells can lose capacity irreversibly. For proper winter storage, charge the battery to 50–70 % and keep it in a dry space at +5–15 °C. Check the charge level every two to three months.

Spring is the time to assess battery health. If the mower manages only 30 minutes on a full charge instead of 70, or frequently returns to base before completing a cycle, or displays a battery error — these are clear signs of cell degradation. A charging loop, where the mower begins charging and stops almost immediately, also points to a cell-level problem. Do not delay — degradation accelerates with every cycle.
