An Ecovacs Winbot operates vertically on glass, and safety is critical — when cable power drops out, only the UPS safety battery and suction motor keep the robot in place. These two assemblies are also the ones we see most often. We service the full Winbot line-up: the latest W2 Omni with its automatic fluid refill, the mid-range W1 Pro and W1 Pro Plus, and the classic 920, 880 and Winbot X. Typical jobs are a worn suction motor, a depleted UPS battery, edge-sensor calibration, spray-nozzle pump cleaning and Wi-Fi module replacement when the Ecovacs Home app cannot find the device. Winbot UPS battery and suction system

Ecovacs Winbot safety on glass relies on two interlinked assemblies: the suction motor and the UPS battery. The motor creates the vacuum that holds the robot against the glass; the UPS battery is the back-up power source that, if mains power is suddenly cut, keeps suction running and holds the robot at the window until the user retrieves it via the safety strap or lifts it off the sill.

At the SATER workshop we perform a full suction-system diagnostic — checking motor power output, rubber seal condition and vacuum sensors. If the motor is worn or its output has dropped, we rebuild or replace it. For UPS batteries we use quality lithium-ion cells and verify charging cycles after each replacement. We recommend every Winbot owner has the UPS battery checked at least once every two years — it is directly tied to safe operation at height.

Ecovacs Winbot diagnostics — edge detection, Wi-Fi and cleaning motor

Winbot navigation relies on edge-detection sensors that let the robot recognise glass boundaries and change direction without crossing the frame. If these sensors are dirty or damaged, the robot may stop mid-cycle or map the cleaning zone incorrectly. SATER technicians calibrate the sensors and, where necessary, replace them using original Ecovacs spare parts.

Wi-Fi connectivity issues on Winbot models often stem from a damaged antenna or a faulty Wi-Fi module. We diagnose the wireless module at component level and replace it if needed. The cleaning pad motor is another frequently worn assembly — it drives pad rotation, and if it stalls or runs unevenly, cleaning quality drops sharply. At our service centre we clean, lubricate or fully replace the motor depending on the degree of wear.
