Jura Coffee Machine Repair
Jura: built-in brew group, drain valve, flowmeter behind the "Fill Water" fault, conical burrs, cappuccinatore cleaning.
Jura stands apart from other espresso machines because the brew group is not removable from the outside. The user cannot rinse it by hand — all servicing happens through the internal rinse cycle, and once that is no longer enough the machine has to be opened up.
The typical repair set is well-defined: a jammed drainage valve inside the brew group, dried-out O-rings on the piston, a thermoblock narrowed by scale, worn conical ceramic burrs and a clogged milk system (cappuccinatore, or the Auto Milk Clean system on newer models).
We work across the current line-up — ENA 4 / ENA 8, E6 / E8, S8, J8, Z10, GIGA 6 / GIGA 10 and the office WE8. Most jobs are parts replacement using original or compatible spares; the "Fill Water" error with a full tank is almost always a flowmeter issue or an air lock and is fixed without ordering anything.

Pick a symptom — we walk through the causes, what you can check yourself, and when to bring it in.
Brew group and thermoblock — the two core Jura repairs
The Jura brew group is the hydraulic heart of the machine: on every button press the piston compresses the coffee puck at 15 bar, and after brewing the drainage valve opens a channel so the puck drops into the waste tray. When that valve jams — usually through worn seals or scale — the piston cannot return home, and error code 8 appears, or a "Prepare new coffee" message the machine refuses to clear. We strip the group, replace the O-ring kit, clean the valve seat, lubricate the piston grooves and test it on the bench before reassembly.
The thermoblock heats water to 92–96 °C for coffee and up to 125 °C for steam. Riga water at 12–15 °dH lays down scale faster than the factory descale interval assumes, especially when the owner has left the hardness setting at default. A narrowed thermoblock produces lukewarm coffee and forces the pump to work against higher back-pressure, leading to air locks and the "Fill Water" error. A deep descale with hot circulated acid usually restores flow; if a channel is fully blocked we replace the thermoblock entirely.
