Likely causes
- Worn or jammed wheel motor — One of the drive wheels no longer spins correctly and the robot begins to drift in arcs.
- Hair and fibres wrapped around the wheel axle — Hair and dust jam under the wheel and brake one side — typical in homes with pets.
- Stuck or broken bumper — The front bumper no longer returns to its neutral position and the robot thinks it is constantly hitting a wall.
- Dirty cliff sensors — The IR sensors on the underside are covered in dust and the robot refuses to move, seeing a virtual edge.
- Faulty gyroscope or odometer — The IMU measures turns incorrectly, the robot loses orientation and drives in loops.
What you can check yourself
- Turn the robot upside down and check that both drive wheels spin freely by hand and spring back into position.
- Remove the wheels if possible and pull out any hair, threads or fibres wrapped around the axle.
- Clean the front bumper and press it in several times to make sure it springs back freely.
- Wipe all the cliff sensors on the underside with a soft cloth.

If after cleaning the robot still spins in place, the problem is usually in the wheel motor, the encoder or the mainboard. We diagnose the motor and encoder, replace faulty assemblies and calibrate the gyroscope to restore correct movement.
