Oven showing an error code — diagnostics and repair in Riga

If your oven display shows an error code and the appliance has stopped working or is operating with restrictions, do not panic — but do not ignore the signal either. An error code is a built-in self-diagnostics system reporting a specific fault: issues with the temperature sensor, door lock, fan, control board, or overtemperature protection.

3-month warranty

SATER service centre at Silmaču iela 6 in Riga has been diagnosing and repairing ovens since 1993 — over 30 years of experience working with Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux, AEG, Whirlpool, Gorenje, Beko, Samsung and Candy appliances. Our history traces back to workshop No. 2 of the Soviet-era "Elektrons" factory, and over these years we have learned to decode and resolve hundreds of different error codes from all major manufacturers. Codes such as E011, E305, F100, F3, and Er2 are not a reason to buy a new oven — they point to a specific component that needs repair. In most cases the problem is resolved by replacing a temperature sensor (NTC or thermocouple), repairing or replacing the control board, restoring the door lock contact, or replacing the fan motor. We carry out full diagnostics using a multimeter and oscilloscope, identify the root cause of the error, and agree on the repair cost before starting work. If the repair is not economically worthwhile, we say so honestly and return the appliance with no obligation. All completed work carries a 3-month warranty. 186 Google reviews with a 4.3-star average are our best recommendation. Bring your oven to Silmaču iela 6 or call +371 67377002.

Likely causes

  • Temperature sensor (NTC / thermocouple) open circuitThe temperature sensor measures the cavity heat and reports to the control board. When the circuit breaks — a burned wire, oxidized connector, or failed sensor — the board reads infinite resistance and displays an error code (e.g. E011 on Bosch/Siemens). Replacing the sensor or restoring the contact resolves the issue.
  • Door lock feedback not receivedThe door lock, particularly on pyrolysis ovens, has a feedback micro-switch. If the contact is oxidized, the wire worn through, or the switch broken, the board does not receive lock confirmation and blocks operation with an error code. Repairing or replacing the micro-switch restores feedback.
  • Fan motor tachometer signal lostThe convection fan motor is fitted with a tachometer generator that reports rotation speed to the board. If the motor is seized, the tachometer has failed, or a connector has come loose, the board logs a signal loss and halts operation. Replacing the motor or tachometer clears the error.
  • Control board internal communication errorIn modern ovens the control board comprises several modules (display, power unit, sensors) communicating over a bus. A micro-crack on the board, a swollen capacitor, or a solder joint defect can disrupt internal communication and trigger an error code. We diagnose the board, re-solder damaged components, or replace the module.
  • Overtemperature protection triggeredThe oven has a thermal fuse that trips when the permissible temperature is exceeded — for example, due to blocked ventilation or a faulty thermostat. After the protection trips, the oven locks out and displays an error code. The overheating cause must be addressed and the fuse replaced if it is a one-shot type.

What you can check yourself

  1. Note the exact error code from the display — the technician will need it for rapid diagnostics
  2. Disconnect the oven at the circuit breaker and wait 10 minutes — then switch it back on and check whether the error returns
  3. Check whether the error reappears after the restart — if it does not, it may have been a one-off electronics glitch
  4. Make sure the door closes properly — a door that is not fully shut often triggers a lock error
  5. Verify that the fan spins — when you select convection mode, listen for the characteristic sound or look through the ventilation slots

When to bring it in

If the error code reappears after a restart or the oven is completely locked out, it is time to bring it to the SATER service centre at Silmaču iela 6. Do not attempt to disassemble the control board or lock yourself — this can make the fault worse. We will decode the error, find the root cause, agree on the repair cost, and provide a 3-month warranty. Call +371 67377002.
