Bosch cordless vacuum repair

Battery packs in Bosch Unlimited, Athlet and Flexxo cordless vacuums are built around 18650 or 21700 format lithium-ion cells with an integrated BMS board that monitors each cell's voltage, temperature and charging current. After two to four years of active use, cell capacity declines and the vacuum runs for just 5 to 10 minutes instead of the rated 30 to 60. The most insidious scenario is deep discharge — if the vacuum sits unused with a flat battery, cell voltage drops below the BMS threshold and the board locks the entire pack.

At the SATER service centre we fully disassemble the Bosch battery pack, measure every cell individually and decide whether to unlock the BMS and recover the cells with a controlled charge, or perform a complete rebuild. During a rebuild we replace all cells with new high-capacity Li-ion cells and fit a fresh BMS board. This is a full restoration of the vacuum's energy system, not a simple battery swap. Rebuilt batteries carry a 6-month warranty; all other work is covered by our 3-month warranty.

Bosch cordless vacuums use high-speed brushless DC (BLDC) motors that reach up to 80,000 RPM on max power. These motors are durable, but prolonged use with a dirty filter or blocked airway causes overheating — the thermal sensor trips and shuts the motor down to protect the windings. Repeated overheating episodes can cause irreversible winding damage.

The Bosch cyclone system separates dust from the airflow before it reaches the HEPA filter. A crack in the cyclone cone or deformed seals lets air bypass the cyclone — suction drops and fine dust infiltrates the motor compartment, contaminating the windings and bearings. At SATER we perform a complete teardown of the motor and cyclone block, check every joint for airtightness, inspect rotor bearing condition, measure stator winding resistance and test the motor control electronics. Where needed we replace bearings, restore the cyclone cone and clear accumulated dust from the motor compartment.
