Built-in Oven Repair

Built-in oven repair: heating elements, NTC sensors, door hinges, pyrolytic lock solenoids. Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux, AEG, Miele, Gorenje.

3-month warranty

Built-in ovens come to us for a fairly short list of faults: a heating element that burned out and the oven only heats on one side, a thermostat that drifted 30–50 °C off, a door hinge with a snapped spring so the door sags open, a convection fan with worn bearings making a steady whine, or a control board with a stuck relay that never turns the element off. On pyrolytic models the door lock solenoid sometimes fails mid-cycle and leaves the door locked.

We work on Bosch HBG/HBA, Siemens iQ, Electrolux EB, AEG BS/BE and BPK pyrolytic, Miele H, Gorenje, Whirlpool AKZM, Beko, Samsung Dual Cook and LG. Almost every fault here is a single-part replacement — a heating element, a thermostat, a hinge, a relay, a solenoid — and costs a small fraction of a new oven. Steam ovens (Bosch HRG/CSG, Siemens HS, AEG SteamBake) we also service: the usual failures are limescale in the generator and a worn water inlet valve.

We do not remove ovens from kitchen cabinetry — that is a kitchen fitter's job. Bring us the unit and we take it from there. Diagnosis is free, estimate before any work, 3-month warranty.

Popular models we repair

  • Bosch Serie 6 HBG (HBG675BS1)
  • Bosch Serie 8 HBG8755
  • Siemens iQ500 HB557
  • Siemens iQ700 HB678
  • Electrolux EB6L40
  • AEG BSE792
  • Miele H 2265
  • Gorenje BO735E
  • Whirlpool AKZM 8480
  • Samsung Dual Cook NV75K

Common problems we fix

  • Top or bottom heating element burnt out — oven does not heat or heats unevenly
  • Thermostat drift — actual temperature off from the setting by 30–50 °C
  • Convection fan noisy or not spinning — worn motor bearings
  • Door sagging and not sealing properly — worn hinges and dampers
  • Door gasket torn — heat loss and uneven baking
  • NTC temperature sensor drift — error codes or wrong temperature
  • Electronic control module failure — display dead, buttons unresponsive
  • Door lock jammed on a pyrolytic model — self-clean cycle will not start
  • Sparking on the board, relay chatter — failed power relays

Component-level diagnosis of oven heating elements, thermostat and sensors

A built-in electric oven relies on several heating elements — top, bottom, grill and a convection element around the fan. Each one dissipates 1000–2500 W and over time either burns out or breaks its coil. We use a multimeter to measure the resistance of each element, compare it with the manufacturer specification (for example, 25–35 ohms on Bosch HBG models) and replace the faulty ones with original or quality-compatible parts. The thermostat and NTC temperature sensor together control the temperature: the NTC reads actual cavity temperature, the board compares it to the setting and switches the elements on or off. When the NTC drifts, food comes out either under-baked or burnt.

We test the thermostat and NTC against a calibrated reference probe — if the deviation exceeds the permitted 15 °C, we replace the part. Convection fan motor bearings start squealing or seizing after 8–10 years of use — we strip the fan assembly, replace the bearings or the whole motor and balance the impeller. All work carries a 3-month warranty.

Repair economics and an honest "repair or replace" decision

A built-in oven is not a television you swap every five years: a quality Bosch, Siemens, Miele or AEG oven is built for 15–20 years of service. We say this plainly: if the original price was €600 or higher, almost any repair (heating element €60–90, thermostat €40–70, door gasket €30–50 plus labour) pays off, because a new comparable oven costs €800–2000. If the original price was €300, a full electronic board swap at €200 is no longer rational — we will tell you so.

Kitchen cabinet integration is a separate matter: we work on an oven already removed from its niche and brought to us. If the oven is built into a tall column or hooked up with a special cable, we suggest bringing in a cabinet fitter or electrician for the removal. We coordinate with several colleagues we have worked with for years. We are not shy about the direct answer "this repair is not worth it for you" — customer trust matters more than a single invoice.
