Electrolux/AEG SteamBake and SteamCrisp system repair
SteamBake and SteamCrisp are the signature technologies in Electrolux and AEG premium ovens. SteamBake adds a controlled amount of steam to the cavity during bread and pastry baking, promoting dough rise and a crispy crust. SteamCrisp in AEG models combines steam heating with convection — steam is used in the first phase for even warming, then dry heat takes over to create a golden surface. Both systems rely on a built-in steam generator with a water reservoir and an electromagnetic valve.
The main problem with the steam generator is limescale. Riga's water supply contains significant levels of calcium and magnesium salts, and mineral deposits gradually clog the valve, feed tubes, and evaporation chamber. We fully disassemble the steam circuit, remove limescale by mechanical and chemical means, check the electromagnetic valve for seal integrity and electrical function, and replace O-rings and gaskets. If the valve is beyond restoration, we fit a new one. All steam system work on Electrolux and AEG ovens carries a 3-month warranty.
AEG pyrolytic oven: door lock, thermocouple, and catalytic panel service
Pyrolytic cleaning in AEG BPK series ovens heats the cavity to 480 °C, turning food residue and grease deposits into ash that can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth. Before the cycle starts, an electromechanical lock secures the door for safety. Common faults in the pyrolytic circuit include: lock solenoid failure (the door won't lock or unlock after the cycle), thermocouple wear in the main temperature sensor (incorrect readings trigger an emergency program shutdown), and door seal degradation allowing heat to escape.
Catalytic liner panels are the alternative to pyrolysis in Electrolux models without pyrolytic cleaning. They are coated with a special compound that oxidises grease deposits at normal cooking temperatures. Over time the coating becomes saturated and stops working. We replace the panels with new compatible ones and, when necessary, carry out a deep cavity clean. All work is performed at our service centre on Silmaču iela 6, Riga, with a 3-month warranty.
