UPS safety battery replacement for Hobot robots
Hobot window cleaning robots operate on vertical glass — often several storeys up. That is why the manufacturer builds a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) battery into every model. This battery is a safety device: if mains electricity suddenly cuts out, the UPS provides enough energy for the robot to stay attached to the glass instead of falling. If the battery has aged or fully discharged, this protection no longer works — a power cut means the robot drops from the window, potentially breaking the device and damaging furniture or flooring below.

If capacity has fallen below the safe threshold, we replace the cells with quality units that deliver the full manufacturer-specified backup hold time. After every replacement we run a complete safety test — we simulate a power cut and verify that the robot stays securely attached to the glass for the required duration. Battery replacements carry a 6-month warranty.
Common Hobot repairs and their causes
The single most common Hobot repair is suction ring or pad replacement. This component wears over time — it loses elasticity, and the robot clings less firmly to the glass. If you notice the robot beginning to slide or detach from the glass surface, the ring almost certainly needs replacing. At SATER we replace suction rings for every Hobot model, from the older Hobot-268 through to the current Hobot-2S.
The second most frequent issue is navigation failure on glass. Hobot robots use sensors to detect the edges of the glass and orient themselves on the surface. If the sensors are dirty or damaged, the robot may stop, drive in circles or attempt to cross beyond the window edge. Our technicians calibrate the navigation system and, where necessary, replace the sensor elements. We also repair spray nozzles — when they are blocked, cleaning fluid does not reach the glass and washing quality drops sharply. All repairs are covered by our 3-month warranty.
